MMO Members

The MMO started in 2003, with the participation of 6 metropolitan areas: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Bizkaia and Seville.

Nowadays the MMO is made up of 23 PTAs in total: Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid, Autoritat del Transport Metropolità de Barcelona, Consellería de Infraestructuras, Territorio de Medio Ambiente de la Generalitat Valenciana, Consorcio de Transporte Metropolitano Área de Sevilla, Consorcio de Transportes de Bizkaia, Consorcio de Transportes de Asturias, Consorcio de Transporte Metropolitano Área de Málaga, Consorci de Transports de Mallorca, Autoridad Única del Transporte de Gran Canaria, Consorcio de Transportes del Área de Zaragoza, Autoridad Territorial del Transportes de Gipuzkoa, Consorcio de Transportes de Bahía de Cádiz, Consorcio de Transporte Público del Camp de Tarragona, Consorcio de Transporte Metropolitano Área de Granada, Consorcio de Transporte Metropolitano Área de Almería, Dirección General de Transportes de la Generalitat Valenciana (Alicante), Mancomunidad de la Comarca de Pamplona, Ayuntamiento de Vigo, Consorcio de Transporte del Campo de Gibraltar, Ayuntamiento de A Coruña, Consorcio de Transporte Público del Área de Lleida, Ayuntamiento de León y Consorcio de Transporte Público del Área de Girona.

Apart from these permanent members, there are also other institutions or agencies collaborating in the MMO, such as the National Rail Board RENFE, the Institute for Energy Diversification and Savings (I.D.A.E.), the Spanish Railway Foundation, the Association of Urban Transport Collectives, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, and the CCOO Trade Union Federation.

TRANSyT (Transport Research Centre of the Polytechnic University of Madrid) assumes the Technical Secretariat of MMO, and writes the annual report. The TRANSyT team in charge of the MMO consists of:

  • Andrés Monzón, Professor of Transport and Director of TRANSyT.
  • Rocío Cascajo, Doctor of Transport and R&D Project Manager in TRANSyT.
  • Gabriel Pieren, Civil Engineer and Researcher in TRANSyT.
  • Carlos Romero, Civil Engineer and Researcher in TRANSyT.
  • Javier Delso, Forestry and Environmental Engineer and Researcher in TRANSyT.
